How to Create Elderberry Juice

Here are some steps on how to juice your elderberries:

1. Clean them. Before you juice them, make sure that you have washed the berries and removed the stems. You can do this by picking them individually from the stems, or you use a fork. The latter is advantageous since it speeds you up, but the first one guarantees no stem remains in the berry.

2. Bring them to a boil. Boil some water in a pot and place the berries inside. Let them simmer for around 20 minutes while pressing them with a masher for mastication.

3. Strain the juice. Get another huge pot to hold the juice. Place them in the kitchen counter or, better yet the sink. Then put on cheesecloth or any old cloth on top of it. Then start pouring the boiling juice you’ve created. Do it slowly to avoid splashing the liquids into your dress. They will surely create some stains.

If you can read, you are not encouraged to use a strainer. Know that elderberries are small, and they may get right into the small holes as you strain.

You can then slowly transfer the juices to a container and then decide what you want to do with them.
